Briefing & planning

Our structured working methods give everyone peace of mind and minimise surprises. It all starts with a brief: scope of work, tone of voice and brand guidelines are set out and signed off along with a budget and timeline.

With a solid brief in place, we’ll help you settle on a design route that gives us all a strong sense of direction for the project ahead.

Design concepts

Working closely with you and with the copywriter – whether that’s someone within your organisation or one of our own specialists – we can begin to flesh out the initial concepts.

We’ll ask you to sign off on structure, outline content and format at this stage, ensuring you’re happy with the overall shape and direction of the piece before we commit any more man-hours to the project. It saves all sorts of headaches further down the line.

Content development

As the copy and the layout start to progress, we’ll supply regular proofs for checking and approval. We can commission original photography and illustrations, or we can make the absolute most of any images you may already own.

By the end of this phase of the project, you’ll know exactly what the finished document will look like, and we’ll make sure you’re happy with it.


This is the stage where we get obsessive about detail. Liaising with the printer, the proof reader and, of course, the client, we check and double-check every last full stop and key line.  Once the proofs are approved, we supervise the printing process, providing quality assurance at every stage.
